The Republican legislature in Michigan is trying to push through a truly frightening bill. Basically, House Bill 4465 would punish striking teachers by revoking their license for two years.

Don’t rage on too hard, Heather.  This really has nothing to do with education or the children. I could name you a dozen college friends who can’t get jobs as teachers because of how teachers’ union tomfoolery and school board shenanigans are holding up the positions.  If we canned the whole lot of child-hating grumpy class instructors and replaced them with young and passionate if somewhat inexperienced college grads, I suspect the children would benefit.  If current teachers don’t like their jobs, I have no sympathy for them: I know plenty of good unemployed teachers who would take them without hesitation.
